Acorn Productions seeks variety entertainers for its fourteenth annual Phyzgig festival, a celebration of the spirit of vaudeville taking place in downtown Portland, Maine between Christmas and New Year’s Eve 2011. Phyzgig consists of two series of events: Phyzkidz, daytime matinees for children, and full-length vaudeville shows at the Portland Stage Company, in which five performers showcase ten to twenty minutes of their material along with a live band. Additionally, this year’s Phyzgig festival will include a late-night burlesque show for adult audiences. Interested performers are asked to complete a short application form that is available at the company's website www.acorn-productions.org. The inability to see the two forms as anything but mutually exclusive speaks volumes. -
I'm sure they wanted to be clear it would be a stage/theatre show. Many of the people who participate are also great street performers. I love this festival, great for seeing unique acts and being inspired.Comment
