    Artsplosure Call For Buskers

    Artsplosure 2003 Call for Buskers!

Artsplosure presents The Raleigh Arts Festival May 17 and 18 in Downtown Raleigh, North Carolina. Now in its 24th year, Artsplosure brings approximately 70,000 people to downtown Raleigh for 2 magnificent days of music, art, and "quirky" fun. This year, plans are underway to add a busker element to the festival in the adjacent City Market area of downtown Raleigh. Applications are now being accepted from creative dancers, mimes, musicians, jugglers, actors, comedians, mimes, fire eaters, magicians, and other street performers who like to create magic in the streets.

If you like to bring the entertainment to the people we are open to diverse, interesting submissions. Performers will be given $50 per day per diem, simple food, and possible housing to out of state performers. We have identified 8 different "pitch" areas in City Market and will rotate performers throughout the day.

Please send promotional materials by March 15th to the address below. Make sure to include written as well as videotape materials. If accepted, you must be willing to provide 3 letters of reference. Performers will be notified by March 30th if they are selected.

If you have any questions please email terri.dollar@artsplosure.org or call Terri Dollar, Program Director at 919-832-8699.

Mail submissions to: Artsplosure 336 Fayetteville St. Mall, Ste 405 Raleigh, NC 27601

    Hi All.

I perform in the Raleigh area and do some street shows at a nearby mall. This mall is brand new and the only place in the area where one can street perform. People have been very receptive to me so far.

I think a street festival in Raliegh is a great idea and would make an incredible impression on the community. I would suspect that hats wouldn't be huge at first but would increase dramatically as Raleigh sees what this community can do. It could become The Biggest Event On the East Coast.

    Ok, I'm biased...probably not

I can say that I have worked with Terry Dollar and she is easy to work with. I have full faith she will coordinate a successful event.
