HELP ! ! ! Scotland needs your help

Glasgow city council needs your help!
We are trying to establish an international street festival from July to August.
We already have year 1 of "Summer in the City" happening at the moment (www.summerinthecity.org), however we would like to expand it over the next 3 years.
We would welcome any advice on how to set up a performer competition over a 1 week period throughout the city centre.

Should we have a prize at the end?
    How much should we offer?
    Should it cover different genres?
    Are there any major pitfalls?
    etc, etc, etc.....

Glasgow is a fantastic city (Despite the rumours) and the council have the backing of ALL the major shopping centres, the city centre traders partnership, the general public and more importantly the Police and statutory agencies.
I would be grateful if you could post your thoughts for all to see, however susan@impactarts.co.uk is the councils booking agent for this year, and she is happy to receive e-mails about this subject, or, if you are looking for a gig, details of your performance.

    Cheers

PS there are other gig opportunities throughout the year (Especially New Years Eve), and check out our wonderful city at www.glasgow.gov.uk

I wrote to these people months back and spent a bit of time on it too.
Outlined the different procedures re Edmonton, Linz , Shizuoka ,etc in terms of sponsorship, admin structure, fees, Prizes, just general extensive yet concise bollocks for which i am noted.
And the fuckers never got back to me.
Personally i love Glasgow, I had a great time there and met murderers and playful policemen on horseback. (different people)
But nary a scintella of thanks or recognition.
Its all so unfair, i'm running a bath and taking the razor with me.

Not so fast with the razor, Martin, it may prove difficult to take a bath with stilts on.

Instead, why don't you get your revenge by attending their Festival, and get paid to cut your throat in public? (Just kidding.)Kelly.

I'm sorry if you have not been contacted re your e-mail. I will check with our programmers for 2001 as all communications were passed to them.
All comments are important to us, and will be very helpful.

I did reply to your email, when you sent it, basically thanking you for your comments, which were interesting, and saying that I would ffed bakc all comments from performers to the council at the end of the festival, when they wanted to reviewabd plan for next year. Obviously this did not get to you.

We did have oversees artists performing at the festival as a result of some of the replies we got, and there was from some a feeling of mistrust , a "them and us" vibe that was totally unfounded. Referring to us as "fuckers" does nothing to smooth over relationships between agents and artists, nd only perpetuates the myth that the bookers are out to get the performers.

I am sorry you didn't get my email, but please rest assured we do value your comments.

I'm sorry for any cultural missunderstandings.
Just as you say wee and mean short or small rather than a type of human waste, here in the antipodies the word 'fucker' means, 'interesting but elusive'.
Theres a whole school of detective fiction devoted to it.Predominatly plotless.
I am sorry we seem to have had dischordant communication and sorry also if my needless harshness reinforced whatever sense of 'Us and them' you so practicily wish to avoid.
As you can see I have not yet been driven to extinguish myself in any morbid display of futile indifference. So it could be said they we've both survived and are looking hopefully and with great vigour to the future.
