INTERNACIONAL BUSKER FESTIVAL
This year’s Barcelona Arts de Carrer Off (Barcelona Street Arts Off) festival will take place from 21 to 23 September 2001, as part of the celebrations for the patron saint of the city, La Mercè. Barcelona Arts de Carrer Off is a festival featuring the best buskers from all over the world, inviting them to demonstrate their art in the very heart of Barcelona, in the most central spot in the whole city: the popular, crowded, bustling Rambla.
For this second OFF Festival, the principal novelty is the introduction of the Barcelona Street Arts Prizes for Buskers. Besides satisfaction and prestige, these prizes also give monetary reward.
First Prize: 250,000 Ptas. (1.502 euro)
Second Prize: 150,000 Ptas. (901 euro)
Third Prize: 100,000 Ptas. (601 euro)
5 honourable mentions: 25,000 Ptas.
Each (150 euro)
The three winners will be invited to take part in the official programme of the 2002 Barcelona Street Arts festival.
FESTIVAL RULES AND CONDITIONS
The organisers will programme a daily performance by each of the artists entered for the prizes, which will be awarded by an international jury. Throughout the rest of the time, artists may perform freely in the Rambla area. Artists from outside Barcelona selected to perform will be provided with meals and accommodation on 21, 22 and 23 September. Travelling expenses must be covered by the artist. The organisers can supply no technical equipment.
