My daughter and I worked the alley outside of Lancaster's Central Market today. She is a viola player and made $40 plus in a couple of hours (all bills). I did simple clown magic with kids and made $14 with lots of quarters and other change.

I told my daughter it was because she was cuter than I was.

The market master was happy to see us, and would love to see more buskers performing. See info in previous post and give him a call if you are in the area and he would be very happy to get you a post.

We talked to the mayor of the city on the street later in the day. He is all for making Lancaster a place that welcomes buskers and would like to see the idea build throughout the downtown area.

If I can help facilitate anyone's time here, please let me know.

Uncle, just a brief comment. Clean any change out of the hat as soon as it's put in there. Also salt the hat with a $5 bill and a couple of ones. People put in what they see in the hat, if there are coins in there, they will drop more coins in. If tere are bills in the hat the crowd will drop in bills. Hope you have fatter hats.

        Thanks for the advice, Peter.

It is kind of a Catch 22 since we are just starting the idea of busking in Lancaster since we got the new mayor's support. On Friday morning a lot of day camps in the city bring their children to market, so the young kids were the ones putting in the quarters, nickels, and dimes.

My thinking was to value their "contribution" in trying to build the culture here that is alright to busk and also okay to put money in the hat as well. I guess one could argue that we should be "teaching" the appropriate amount of money to put in the hat, although when the kids were dropping in the money they brought to the market to buy candy with, I was highly honored.

However, if that money had been my meal ticket and housing for the day, I'm sure I would have felt differently.

        Thanks again for your feedback.
