    "The Tempest" Circus Style

Note: this posting is a more generalized version of the "sway pole" posting.
    ----

Much Ado Circus in St. Charles, MO (near St. Louis) is looking for circus artists who would be interested in participating in an adaptation of Shakespeare's "The Tempest" this summer. The dates of the show are the last 3 weekends in June. Rehearsal schedule would be negotiated as part of the contract and would depend on the specific role.

The general conceit of this version is that the play takes place in a kind of abandoned carnival on Coney Island. Caliban is a dog-faced boy; Ariel is a caged songbird/acrobat; Trinculo and Stephano form (with Caliban) a classic clown trio; Prospero is a magician. And so forth.

The script will be cut for time and also to allow for circus spectacle.

Pay is negotiable depending on role and experience. Housing will be provided for the length of the run.

There is a lot of room for collaboration, and this could be an extremely rewarding project for the right person.
