    Busking in Toronto

    From: Chris MacLean

Yonge-Dundas Square in downtown Toronto Canada is accepting resumes for busking in 2006.

    Our website is:
Sankofa Square is a one-acre outdoor public square and event space in Toronto. Located at Yonge and Dundas streets, it's a key destination in downtown Toronto and Canada's busiest intersection.

    fuck the fire extinguisher...

better pack a bullet-proof vest into your kit. there have been 3 fatal shootings at young and dundas in the last year.
That being said, it could be a really good pitch, big open space, plenty of pedestrian traffic, it really needs to be broken in though...
there are performers who do work there sometimes who have a stronger work ethic (or maybe who are more desperate) than me.
The only time i have done shows there was during a festival where i was paid a retainer to be there and every time I thought to myself "I'm glad I don't have to pass the hat here"

      Workable

It's workable, though not particularly profitable. I got booked (unpaid) along side a peruvian band, who weren't willing to share. In the end I got to do one show, and they worked the rest of the day/week.

Saying that the management were easy to talk to. I'll do it again, in the hopes that someday it'll be more viable and I'll be able stay in my home city alittle longer then 3 weeks every 3 years.
