This is Robert Strong here and I am just finishing my second tour of Singapore and am posting this job listing for my Singaporean agent. The pay here starts at about $1,000 a week and goes up depending on your demand. The more shows the agent books (based on the quality of your video), the more you get paid. Please don't bother sending me any print material because they aren't interested in looking at that. This has been a very fun experience for me and I am ready to move on. So, I am helping my agent find new talent. If you have any questions, you can email me at: Robert@StrongEntertainment.com
I will try to respond in a timely manner. Now here is the email from my Singaporean agent:
I am looking for interactive comedy performers (maximum of 3 performers for this year) who 'plays big and packs small', has a 30 minute show. Most of the shows are concentrated on weekends only Friday and Saturday. Please see the following parameters: -
1) We will need to do 3 to 4 shows a night. Travel time is about 25 minutes from each venue to venue and the total amount of time between shows is about 45 minutes. The setup and pack down has to be minimum, has to be ready to go within 5 minutes.
2) Though most of the gigs are in banquet rooms, we have no lighting and sideline control. Most hotel object to fire i.e. fire juggling, etc is not preferred. Audio system and microphone support is possible. For all shows, full banquet lights will be turned on.
3) The guests are normally eating while the performer is performing, i.e. 10 course Chinese dinners that last about 2hours. So the performer has to be exciting enough to be able to distract the guests from the food.
4) The first table is also generally quite far away from the stage, averagely about 20 ft away because they have a huge dance floor between the stage and the first table.
5) Though most guests speak English, they are not too well versed with the 'American one liners' or 'American humor', physical humor will be best appreciated. Audiences in Singapore love to see audience participation, they love to see one of them up on stage.
6) Shows which are less talk and more actions are preferred. In short, a successful show will be one that has lots of physical comedy, audience participation and a variety entertainer.
7) Time frame - Nov till end of Dec 2005 and may even half or entire month of Jan 2006
8) Accommodation in a motel, local transportation for show and airfare will be provided
9) Interested applicants can send their promo DVDs and Video Tapes to:
Robert Strong
P.O. Box 225090
San Francisco, CA 94122
All DVDs and Video Tapes that are received by February 28th will be forwarded to Singapore all at once for review.
Thank you,
Robert Strong
