    Hi all,
I am the marketing and promotions director at Dante's Bistro, in Edmonton Alberta Canada.
I am also a Fire performer.
I am going to be running a promotion Jan 14, 21, 28 and Feb 4.
with the possibility of it running longer.
I need visual performers who want to get exposure.
This promotion is truly unlike any ever seen before and is a great oppourtunity for anyone wanting a gig.
We are VERY flexible in providing what you need to perform and there is an oppourtunity for cash here.
    Please contact me asap
I already have 5 fire performers but if you breathe or juggle fire CONTACT ME!!!
(none of us can do that)
    Happy Performing
    Love luck and light

        it was about this http://www.performers.net/forums/sho...&threadid=3064

some one from mtv was looking for free performeres to do an mtv spot i guess they had $ to spend but she thought that we would line up just to get our faces on the tv , but that would be a bad move because you may think you may add some "heat" to your career but you may just "burn out"

but that is not what you are doing
I am sure as i have met you and today we spoke on the phone about what you posted
        so don't worry Tia

            Exposure

Here in Minnesota its -12 degrees. People die of exposure.

If you've ever gotten a paying gig from doing a free gig, please post it here....

I have. Did a gig for the Cancer society Relay for Life. Got a call the next week asking me to do a gig. Of course it was another charity wanting a freebie.

That was the only call I got for the freebie. I will still do one shot a year for the Cancer Society but all others can pay my standard charity rate of higher than my normal rate. Heh heh, tell someone you'll be glad to perform for US$300 an hour and see the expression on their face.

BTW Dave I used to live in Minneapolis, I still remember the time when the high temp for the month was minus 5F. It got to 10F one day and we were out in our spring jackets.

Rare, but it happens. The well known charity gigs, are also useful in the closing phone conversation.

I've also used a free gig, or near free gig as a source of some killer photos and video. Sometimes I make the event supply the photographer, or the video.

Now why didn't I ever think of that? Great Idea, Stretch!

                    Remember . . .

                    Everything is negotiable.

For peace of mind, figure on a 50% follow through. In otherwords, when the event SAYS they will supply two photographers, count your blessings when only one shows up. They may mean well, but their volunteer may not show up.

Other requests sometimes met include coverage in their inhouse newsletter. Some of these folks have a pretty big mailing list. And many of their members
                    are leaders in the community.

You can also go to their website and find their board of directors. These folks are often affiliated with more than one organisation, and can be good leads. Nothings fool proof, but you knew that going in.

These kinds of events have also been very useful to me when I want to try out new material.

Another aproach I found interesting is found
                    at http://www.dwolfe.com/pricing.htm

Pricing for a church event is overhead plus an "offering" or pass the hat after the concert. Notice the use of the word concert, a little more upscale than "show".
