new festival in Canada!
Globe Theatricks Street Festival invites performers of all disciplines to apply for participation in our inaugural event on Saturday, August 28, 2004, in Regina, Saskatchewan. That’s in the middle of Canada… And yes, we realize this is a "last minute" posting!
Globe Theatre has a history of presenting community events outside of its regular theatre season. Since 1997, it produced the annual Lanterns On The Lake Festival in Wascana Park in Regina, an annual event that attracted audiences of up to 15,000 people.
In 2004, Globe Theatre will present a new event instead of the Lanterns festival. This new event will be called the Globe Theatricks Street Festival, and will be located in Regina’s downtown core in beautiful Victoria Park. It will be a one day event that will feature a variety of food and craft vendors, a family dance, a street theatre processional performance, and a variety of talented artists performing throughout the day. This event will become an annual attraction for downtown Regina and will always be timed for the last weekend in August. We may expand it beyond one day, but for this first year, it’s a 1 pm to 11 pm show.
We are looking for focused acts who can perform on a fixed location as well as roving artists. We are starting small in 2004 but hope that this event will grow in the coming years.
