Stilt and stunt performers required for San Diego Wild Animal Park in Summer

Stilt and Stunt Performers Wanted for Live Show

GAIT Productions is a New Zealand-based company. We created a show in 1999 called “Urban Safari”. This show will appear this summer at the San Diego Wild Animal Park in Escondido California.

Auditions: Pre screening interview in advance and then at the park on June 9 & 10.

Roles and Costumes ---- There are 5 key roles plus 2-3 subs. All operating roles are very physical and heavily costumed. We are looking for experienced stilt performers or stunt performers who can learn this skill, male and female considered.
    1. Cantilerper body operator –
This is a four legged 3 meter stilt costume and required a skilled operator.
    2. Cantilerper head controller
This position walks in front of the Cantilerper, holds and operates the head of the Cantilerper on a long pole, and guides the body operator with the help of radio communication. The Cantilerper is a mild mannered, curious, herbivore that instills a sense of awe through its unique appearance and sheer height. Standing four to five meters tall and reasonably slow moving the Cantilerper is affectionate and trusting.
    3. Kennelpig #1 – This is a solo costume with 30 cm leg stilts and 60 cm arm stilts.
    4. Kennelpig #2 – As above, the Kennelpig is an aggressive carnivore and hunts in packs, with its favorite prey being the Cantilerper. It is smaller in size but fast moving and highly mobile. The complex group hierarchy is fascinating.

    Dates and Performances
“Urban Safari” has been booked to perform at the San Diego Wild Animal Park from 18 June – 7 Sept. Rehearsals are from 12-17 June, in the late afternoon and early evening, 4-6 hours each day.

The show duration is around 20 minutes and will be performed three times from 5pm – 9:30pm each day, 7 days per week.

Performers can work up to 6 days per week. The rate of pay is $500 pro rata per 6 day week, one half pay for rehearsal. U.S. performers will be hired locally. No accommodation or other expenses are provided.

We are hiring 3-6 U.S. performers for the Kennelpig and Cantilerper head controller roles and subs. The other 3 performers are New Zealanders and have considerable experience with the show.

    The Scenario
These wild and wonderful four-legged creatures, some gentle herbivores and other aggressive carnivores, meet in an amazing visual confrontation with each other and their human audience. ‘Urban Safari’ is dramatic and fantastic. Dr. Wes provides an informative commentary for the audience on the history and behavioral tendencies of the creatures, amidst the unfolding live action. Urban Safari is spectacular and unique outdoor theater work created by award-winning GAIT Productions. Urban Safari stemmed from a philosophy of live sculpture combining stilt walking and puppetry. The result is extraordinarily realistic.

    TYPO?

$500 divided by 6 equals $83.33 per day for a "heavily costumed. heavily physical" show. Perhaps you should post this message on College Campus Message Boards.
