Introducing: Mr Arthur J Shifty Jnr

    G'Day to All,
Introducing myself AJ Shifty, another bloody Australian circle show performer (in training). Still in my first year of shows with successes and failures. Had a try at the street about 6-7 years ago, had no idea about the street pissed off a few of the regulars and gave up. Back now with (a little) more street knowledge and dedication. Melbourne folk will know me better for the Strange and Shifty fire show I do with my associate Dr Rain Strange. Kept my solo show pretty quiet this summer working Luna Park and Red Square. Nearly goddam killed me but I am in Europe now which is frigging sweet. Hello to all...

I do also want to ask some advice...I am wanting to start working mimicry into my build. From the outside the technique looks fairly straight forward; a couple of basic moves, improvise a repertoire of original stuff and try to have some fun... my attempt yesterday using this formula wasn't great. We don't have real pickpockets in Oz so I was a bit naive on the ramifications of trying to put something (specifically my flaming lasso which at this poin of the show looks like a cartoon bomb) in someones bag... my mark was not impressed and it was early in my show and I had not won over my audience yet so they were not impressed either (me I thought it was hilarious but that doesn't count for much). Anyone have any advice or point me towered resources, would be humbly accepted.

With Apologies now and in Future for Being a Long Winded SonofaBitch,
    AJ Shifty Jnr

If you're looking to perform reverse pickpocket, check out the book "The Art of Body Loading and Productions" by Eddie Joseph.

      Well...

...I am interested in that subject and will look into that book but in this case I was wanting the guy to know I was jamming something in his purse...I just wanted him to think it was funny...which he most certainly did not. I guess maybe that is a skill that can't be taught...
      Thanks for your Reply
