    TigerSoop says Hello!

Oh wow I'm finally here and thrilled!

I hope this is the right place to put an introduction.

I've been reading all your adventures and advice for months

After a bit of a finagle [the site hated my email addy for some odd reason], here I is...

My nic is Reb and our group is called TigerSoop. We're acapella [with kazoos and some percussion] which is a bit strange but interesting on the streets. People seem to like jumping in and clapping, playing and singing when they see a whole group of people.

We just started at Nuit Blanche and Hallowe'en in Toronto [Parkdale] so reading all the tips has been very helpful. Many many moons ago I busked by myself in Toronto when I first came here. I think I was about the only woman out there, back then! It resulted in my being hired as a lounge singer [strange onto itself] and a few other times I've busked in duets. I was a part time musician and singer for most of my adult life.

We're all vintage, to put it tactfully. We really enjoy going out and making people smile, dance and join in. We're hoping to put together a dynamite spring 2010 street entertaining show. We DO busk already, mainly quietly in our own neighbourhood as we work out our chops and get some experience. It helps us figure out what songs "work".

So, compared to all ye olde pros we're utter n00bs.

We have noticed that at times, we don't just get walk bys--we get groups of people standing around, so I've been kind of wondering [and reading] about circle shows....

As well, we rather wondered about how long our show should be? 10 really dynamite songs and some patter? That would take about half an hour. Or perhaps even shorter? We also want to write down common requests so we can learn them. Any suggestions?

We're hope to have a grand adventure meeting all the jugglers, magicians, musicians, balloon artists, face painters and all the other interesting people out there gleefully doing their own thing.
