    i'm a new b and proud

well here i am one man in a huge world of full of people who could care less about what i can juggle and how funny i may be.
yet i intend to be an entertainer (what a dummy right?) and have choosen new orleans as my launch pad (yeah dumb i know).
i juggle clubs and also spin poi and flower stix, i also am working towards being a sphear player.
at the moment i don't really have a show just a few bits in my head and fewer bits on paper.
what i do have is a box of props and a life time of seeing shows at the ren fairs around the usa.
one of my childhood friends told me to join this site and he is mostly pretty smart if not handsome, so i took his advice and here i am.
thanks in advance for your support and replys.

Oh yes, and learn to ignore all of the nay-sayers. Actually, very few ordinary (non-performing) people have ever watched an entire juggling act. The first step is to engage the audience - with any discipline (even juggling) - you can win them over.

Watch and learn, all the while building your skills and show to reflect the kind of performance that you like watching. Don't worry about being successful, worry about being good. Really, all you have to do is be better than anyone else around you.

        new busking

Well Imeleven, afer playing nite clubs ,festivals, state fairs, etc.all over the u.s. and Canada I started busking in New Orleans in sept. '79. Once you get by the tap dancers, shoe shines, tarot card readers, hustlers, jass musicians, and other distractions, you can get about the business of busking New Orleans is the place that will make you tuff or find something else to do. If your tuff and can hang Mallory square is the best place to put a new show togeather.Out of 9 performers yesterday 6 were jugglers, we have jugglers, jugglers on tall unicycles, jugglers on short unicycles, jugglers on free standing latters, jugglers on tight rope, infact Tom from new Orleans was climbing up his medium unicycle yesterday to juggle fire when to his torch went limp,Alex was juggling fire on his medium unicycle next to him. He directed everyone to watch him juggle then fell off his unicycle with a big splash and burn to everyones delight. He then collected a big hat as Alex was bitching about making a $40 hat. Again once you've seen one juggler you've seen them all, they all do the same thing, juggle! Be creative learn something new and different or you'll be just another juggler. The poi is a nice direction... MERRY CHRISTMAS YA'LL

if you've seen 1 one-man band you've seen them all

          Imelven,

I think there is much to be explored in juggling as well as any other art form out there ... what people are interested in is YOU ... not so much what you are doing.

I have watched people do almost nothing ...that seemed to come out of nowhere ... that took audiences away.

I started in NOLA in '72 ... did Mallory in the early '80's and rocked 'em ... worked the world ... did it all (too many tee-shirts) ... and let me tell you that there is always room for you in the performing arts arena ... whatever it is that you choose to do.

          Welcome home,
          Robert

Welcome to a strange community. Most of the people who critique juggling the hardest couldn't get on a unicycle on their best day, or ever hope to juggle.

Throwing stuff and catching it is a means to the end of entertaining, as valid as any other prop or instrument.
Check out the library, and perform 1 or 200 times before you get too hard on yourself. Try obscure country fairs instead of cities, if you want easier crowds to start with.

Ignore people like me telling you what to do, and you'll prosper.
