    Hello Don Driver here

    Hello everybody,
Some of you here might know me from other fourms.I just found this fourm and I hope to make some new friends here.

I'm 63 and semiretired.Been in magic all my life.Grew up in Baltimore Md.
Worked The Yogi Magic Mart, owned by Phil Thomas back in the early
70's.Phil knew so many great magicians and they all came in the shop when
they were in town.Milbourne Christopher,Walter Gibson,Hen Fetch to name a
    few.

Got into sideshow stuff learned the blockhead, fire eating.Went to work
for several sideshows in the mid 70's and on the road.
Moved to Las Vegas about 1979,worked a Jam Auction in downtown Vegas for
several years ( thats a whole other story)Got to be close friends with
Michael Skinner. He taught me more about close up magic than I
deserved.Michael was the "best".I still miss him.

Moved to the Nashville area about 1993,and still live here.

I've been pitching one thing or another most of my life.Been at the
svengali pitch for over 25 years now.David Walker, the KING of the svengali
    pitch broke me in.

I have a DVD out teaching the pitch.Just go to my site at:
    www.dondriver.tk for order info.
I have a another DVD out on how to "Build a Tip" for
busking.(I learned this bally working Jam Auctions)

Thanks for having me here.I hope to be of some help and feel free to ask
questions you might have and I'll do my best to answer them.

I'm looking forward to reading post here and leaning as well.

Well thats my story and I'm stuck with it...I mean I'm sticking to it...sticking to it...

Thanks for reading, and have a nice day,
    Don

      Hey don,
Glad you finally made it here...

Unlike the "Big greenie" the folks here will call a spade a shovel and whack you with it if they think for a moment you ain't the real deal.

      Mike V... beware....

There are some real interesting characters...

      Cheers
      the Seadawg

This is the first time I've heard that "spade a shovel" saying. What does it mean exactly?

It means they will call it exactly what it is...

          No beating around the bush, no BS.... if it is a spade, then they call it one... not a long handled sharp dirt removal device...;

dirt tends to be at least 50% inorganic.

                  Welcome, Don.

Although in certain situations, you could say "organic matter PLACEMENT device" but normally in those situations you shouldn't really be talking about it. In all likelihood, once you are in said situation, you've already eliminated the source of unwanted chatter anyway.

Well...the irony of this discussion that Seadawg started was "we tell like it is here" and explanding this, everyone seems to be beating around the bush.

What Seadawg should have said to begain with is:

"If you'er full of shit...we'll let you know about it here "

Now thats getting to the point...

Hey guys, thanks for all the welcomes...

                      Don

                              Jimmy,
Warpo is back in New Orleans.I have talked to him since he got back from Alaska with Peter.

He worked the fair in BatonRouge La. some kid was grabbing at his pitch deck and being a real brat.Warpo looked at the tip and said :

" I know now why they have abortions"

The kids father was in the tip and went to the fair office to complan.Warpo was asked to leave...

Too bad...its OK to let your kids go wild..but try to do something about it and....I hate this " politicaly correct " bullshit.

                              Later,Don
