AM I THE ONLY PUPPETEER HERE?

I'm Tim, a puppeteer in T.V. and film (but only when GCI doesn't get to the money-men first). I'm new to this electronic networking, but hey, whatever works...this DOES work, doesn't it?

I'm always interested in hearing from others like me-especially if there is a paying gig to be had. Even if not, maybe drop me a line, and let me get to know you a little better!

Tim, there are a few other puppeteers here. But I'm probably the oldest living one! With the most full time professional experience. Depending on what kind of show (and puppets)you have you can find gigs sometimes under the GIGS headings. But in any case the Forums are worth checking out for plenty of helpful info. so see ya around!

By the way worldwide, who are you? The only street puppeteer I know of in NO is Valentino, that's not you is it?

No, I'm not Valentino, although i know him and admire him for what he does in his performance, and also for pushing his handcart all the way from the Bywater and back!

But this is performers.net, not buskers.net, and some of us do little or no street. I only do it when (a) I don't have another gig, (b)I feel like it, and (c)when the weather's to my liking. I enjoy it immensely, but I don't think I would ever get rich at it. I alternate between Royal St. and do Jackson Square when I can find a spot that's not too noisy from the bands.

I mostly do Fairs, Festivals, Colleges, Schools, the odd Mall, and Special Events. Because open air and wind and rain are tough on Marionettes, I preter indoor stuff.

I bet I have seen you around. I will look you up in Who's Who so i can say Hi! next time I see you. Break a leg!

Yo! Puppeteer here. I wonder about ya'all out there too. I also appreciate your comment on this bein' "performers.net" I've done a few shows as a "busker" out in Venice Beach most recently, and years ago in front of various American bars, (TEXANS LOVE GYPSY SEX!) hand type puppets, adult erotic stuff which seemed sadly easier for the crowds to swallow out there than in my belov-ed New Orleans, though at night I have seen a friend or two get away with drunken type existentialist puppetry on Decatur street. I am currently working on children's shows at StoryLand at CityPark with Bill Cangemi & co. Its close to being on the street sometimes when the kids get all snowconed up...they don't exactly throw "money" at us, but there are foreign objects flying through the air pretty regularly. Making the transition to children's shows is hard by myself. I've been acquainting myself over the years with a few wonderful puppeteers in New Orleans and around, lately working on National Day of Puppetry for April 2003 at City Park Storyland, the park wants to see how well it does the first year, and has committed to helping out a little with bucks and volunteers and such. Any of ya'all puppeteers interested in getting guild type stuff down here so that there is more of an outlet for puppetry gigs ect...? And what about a permanent puppet theatre? I am game, surrounded by puppets with only 2 hands, CLit.

            Hey BC:

I know you from New Orleans, but never hung out with you!! You are not the only puppeteer. But I left NOLA because my puppetry was stagnating worse than the murky puddles on Bourbon Street! Things are much better since I left a few months ago.

Here's a question: are we the only queer (and I don't mean strange) puppeteer street performing minded people in this forum???

I'd like to know >>> There seem to be a lot of boys around these parts.
Come out Chickadees! Come out little Queerlings!!

It's good to see you here!
