Tis a woeful tale, quite tragically, he didn't play sports as a child….
But his loss is our gain. For Robin Chestnut instead focused his energies on juggling and entertaining. Now a Canadian Juggling Champion, Robin makes his living bringing Laughter and Excitement to corporate, festival, and showroom audiences.
It's not hard to see why audiences love him. They laugh at his sarcasm and bitterness, and he wins their hearts with his charm, charisma, and never-say-die attitude. Daring to go a different route, Robin's tale of circus over sports will leave even the toughest audiences laughing, and applauding.
With loads of audience interaction, world class juggling skills, and a personality that can't miss, Robin Chestnut is always a surefire crowd pleaser!
Of course that's not what I tell people when we first meet it's just in the press kit.
Live 30 minutes north of the frigid north itself (Winnipeg) on a 10 acre hobby farm complete with Mustangs, Arabs, German Shepherds, Tabbi Cats and a Jack Russel Terrorist named Woodstock.
My girlfriend and I love the privacy of country life, like having big bonfires and listening to the coyotes howl.
Our pipes just froze. It's 30 below.
Grew up in a hockey neighbourhood but didn't play. Dad left when I was three. Have an older sister and narrowly escaped being dressed as a girl despite Dad's absence. But he wasn't there to steer me away from juggling. Thank God. If did play hockey I'd probably be crippled and an accountant by now.
Juggling/performing for years, full time pro since 98 after getting Arts Diploma to hang on wall where it usefully covers a hole from an errant club.
My timing was impecable for going pro when I did because it happened to coincide with Young Raoul's retirement. Now he sends me his gigs and I continue to carve out a decent existence in the snow among other things.
Let's see, hobbies include Chess, making furniture out of twigs, fixing up the homested, and clinging to the back of a horse when the need for self abuse arises.
Enjoy street performing but like the corporate gigs and festivals much better. Corporate suits and camera-toters need laugher too. It's not purist Street but if they stand up at the end you know you've done your best. It happens sometimes.
Religion: Taoist would be closest.
Run the juggling club in Winnipeg. Stop on by if you pass through on a Sunday morning. Our Jugglefest is in late May watch for posts.
