    calling Lynneski

Hi Lynne. Not trying to put you on the hot seat or anything, but seeing as you are the only agent daring to post I was wondering if you wouldn't mind sharing a little of your background with us? Nothing too prying, just maybe whether or not you have ever been a professional entertainer yourself, and what got you into the agent business -- stuff like that?

chance, don't you think it's a bit rich, putting it on some-one to do something that you haven't even bothered to do yourself? Especially after your post Sept. 11 announcement of the new sharing/caring chance that admonished others for being less than open in these forums.
ps. obviously many people type too fast for you. Lynneski is far from the only producer/director (she is not an agent) that posts here. There are also several agents that post here regularly.

Prof, could you possibly be any more inflammatory? Nothing in this thread was even remotely concerned with you. Your comments are completely out of line, and your attempts to hi-jack this thread are not welcome. Where is the moderator when you need one?

chance, I'm not trying to be inflamatory, I'm just asking you to do the things you yourself have said you would. Surely you have noticed the subject line that bears your name. You also seem willing to say a lot of things about the users of this site and you don't seem to check the facts out thoroughly before you make your statements.
You are very familiar with these forums and whilst you are very outspoken about how others use them you are less than generous with your own contributions. Of course, I will go out and beat myself about the head with some cooked broccoli for being so stupid to have believed you and will never again expect you to deliver what you have said, let alone be silly enough to remind you of your own writings (it's a pity Jim removed that announcement, it was a beauty).
Some people ride high unicycles, you seem to be stuck on your high horse.
I did not attack you I merely asked whether you thought you were right to ask someone else to do what you personally won't. What is your problem with providing a profile or putting something up in "Who's Who"?

ps. pls put your response in the new subject in Blah Blah Blah that I've created so that others aren't bored or embarassed by our discourse.

Lynne, sorry for the interruption. No small wonder that people are reluctant to participate in these forums. I am hoping that Jim will get around to deleting every post here (this one included) except for the original.

Whhhy... Ah y'all fightin' oer l'il ol me???
            <flutter, flutter>

No, obviously not. But I'll answer the question anyways, and try not to pick sides.

Prof's right in that I'm not the only producer-type to post here, maybe just the loudest. Others have most often posted to the gigs threads, and some like Neal Rempel (producer of Winnipeg Children's Festival), and Robert Nelson (co-pro of Windsor) are more regular than I.

My background? Whooo, sordid tale, none too interesting. Snapshot version is I started out singing in a band, discovered I mostly sucked, got roped into volunteering with a music festival, worked there 7 years, developed a career producing special events for various organizations, volunteered with Waterloo Buskers, stayed there nearly 7 years, did the last two in programming, and found my metier (for now, anyways).

            Told you it was boring.

Next year I'll be providing curating and programming services through my company, EVENTS!(etc), under contract to Creative Arts in Dundas (May 31-June 2, Dundas, Ontario), and a few other gigs to boot (details TBA - really!). I am not an agent, though I do often get calls for variety artists for corporate and other gigs, and try to make referrals when there's enough funds and structure to warrant.

            Happy to answer.

            Peace, Pace, Paix

            Lynne
