Hi.
I am the official jester to the city of Salisbury. A title I hold with great pride. Although it is an honorary position, the title brings me lots of paid work.
I have a street show crammed with jokes that I have written, borrowed, stolen, created or been given. I have a mock persona which is aggressive and stroppy, so kids just love it when I go wrong.
I am able to entertain children in their early teens and hold my own with them. This is something I am very proud of.
I also perform stand up comedy (satirical stuff). I perform alternative comedy in conventional clubs while all the old alternative clubs now only feature conventional comedians. Ironic isn't it.
Although my act does include a 7ft Unicycle and fire torches, it is not a generic act. But a 7ft Unicycle does create a wonderful ending which unites the crowd. This is important to me as my act is mainly a mock argument with my audience.
A walking globe in my street show makes my act more unusual. I carry my props around in a hand cart/car trailer and vary my act a lot. I also do stilt walking.
I am married to Carol and we have two children. My mother makes my costumes and my family and friends help me make my props. Carol does not get involved in the business at all which I think helps the marriage, although she and the kids often travel with me to gigs and events.
I have a few youngsters who train and work with me. I pay them very well for the work they do and in return they do a lot of charity stuff with me. I am proud of the people I have trained and taught many of whom now work in their own right.
I hope that a couple of them will do really well, so that maybe they'll remember me later.
