    FAQ - envelope iconS

    I'm curious
What are those envelope icons at the extreme left of each thread in each forum?
    envelope with a black dot
envelope with little rays out the top (like they smell? or theres sound coming from inside them )
An envelope thats brown instead of grey thats open with two pages visable.

    No hurry

OK let's see if I can get this straight...

First of all there's two categories of threads... "Regular" and "Hot"

A "hot" thread means there's been at least 100 "views" and/or 15 "replies" to the topic.

A "regular" thread is under 100 views and fewer than 15 replies.

    - An open yellow envelope with one "piece of paper" denotes a regular thread you haven't read yet or containing new replies since your last visit.

    - An ORANGE open folder with "several pieces of paper" denotes a "HOT" thread you haven't read yet or containing new replies since your last visit.

    - A closed envelope denotes a thread you've read already with no new replies since your last visit.

    - A closed "smoking" folder is a "hot" thread you've read already with no new replies since your last visit.

    - - - - Envelopes with "DOTS" denote threads YOU have contributed to.

Pretty neat, huh? All that stuff is based on your cookies and your visits. These forums are way smarter than the old forums. And those icon makers have a ton of time on their hands.
