hype yourself blatantly

Hi Jim & Everyone,

I notice that from time to time performers put up a "hire me!" post in the Gigs forum.

What about a fourth section in the Gigs for like "Looking for Work" or something like that so the potential agent looking for acts can just lurk there?

We already have a forum of people looking for work. I think it's called "Who's who".

actually, I was just thinking that would be a good idea. Like, "I'm about to come to Europe and wondered if any European festivals etc would like some performers". Hey I just did it - but who's going to look here? Not agents that's for sure. And they probably wouldn't look in the who's who either. Maybe there is room for an extra forum....

Actually Steve make's an excellent point.

Let's face it, just about everybody who comes to p-net is looking for work. Put up a hire-me forum and there will be 2000 posts in there per week and it would very quickly get out of hand.

This is a discussion forum, not the classified section of a newspaper.

I take back my suggestion.

I didn't mean to squelch the idea with my glib remark - it was intended as simple commentary.

If Jim agrees, I think that a "business card drop" might be useful for registered members of P.net. There are several performers listings on the net, some of which are linked off of the P.net links site, but if there is enough agent traffic to this site, then it might be useful to contain some pages of categorized profiles of performers. There's no sense in making redundant web content, and Jim may not want the extra work. I think that the validity of the idea depends on if there is enough unique traffic by the talent scouts to justify the extra resources.

By the way, if you get a gig off of the site, it would be polite to give Jim a finders fee, that way everyone wins.

Yes, everyone is looking for work, but if P.net can really make it easier for agents and producers to access the talent, then I think the site should accommodate.

Working on it!

I hope to have some new features at performers.net in the next few months. Sit tight, folks. I don't want to give anything away or make promises I can't keep, but I am sure you will all be happy to see the stuff I'm working on once it's released.

I will say that I'm working on 5 new sections/features for performers.net. Not new forums, but new divisions of the site. Like, right now, there's really two things... a forum and a library. By the end of the summer I hope to have FIVE new things to do here.

By the end of the 2003, performers.net will be a much more complete resource.

Thanks to everyone for their continuing participation.
Jim

I was pretty close to being the 1000th registered member at performers net. Well I was off by 12 or so... but pretty close.
