    Time Zones

    Hi Jim, it's really cookin'

I was wondering if you can install a clock somewhere on the main forum board. It would help those of us outside the States know how recent a post is and what time it is where the poster lives.
Better still maybe 3 or 4.
Greenwich, EST US, EST Aust (includes Japan), and Moscow (includes South Africa).

All posts are recorded based on EST (US). It doesn't matter where the 'poster' lives or is at the time of the post. It's all server-relative. (The server the forum sits on.)

I'll see about getting a clock on the main forum board. It's a great idea. If it's possible, I'll do it.

I think I'll go to the http://www.infopop.com web site and poke around there.

      OK Folks,

Prof's question got me looking for new features to add to the Forums, so I spent about three hours last night checking out about a dozen other systems like this one. Some of them were basic (like this one) and a lot of them were totally tricked out with neat add-on features.

I'm going to be adding some things over the next couple days... just little enhancements and things to personalize everyone's experience a bit more. So keep your eyes open.

About the CLOCK. There are not any clocks that I've found that are the "Ticking Clock" variety like one some sites (09:59:34) that display at the top of the pages. But I did find a few sites that have a window at the bottom of the main page with the World Time of several cities sort of listed in a box. Every time the page reloads, the time is updated for each city. I'm working on finding that and getting it installed. It's a 'hack.' It's not something built for this system, but it seems to be working on a few other sites.

      More to come.

I have to get a life.
      Jim
