Powering my Busking Equipment - Help Needed?

Hi all, I could really use your knowledge and help please?

I am after a power supply to run these items with a 12v car battery pack and inverter.

Can anyone let me know what size inverter I would need for approx 3 hours busking?

This is my set-up
1 X Mixing desk ( to plug mics, instruments, iphone and other things into ) 240v

1 X Boss GT10B Pedal - Power Supply 240v to DC 9V (AC Adaptor: Roland PSB-1U) - Current Draw - 800 mA

1 X Boss RC300 - Power Supply 240v to DC 9V (AC adaptor) - Current Draw - Maximum 320 mA (DC 9 V)

1 x Roland Micro Cube 240v to DC 9V

1 X Behringer B300, 300 watt powered speaker 240v

1 X small Asus Laptop – 240v


I appreciate that I will need to use a 6 gang plug from the inverter aswell!


Can anyone with the knowledge offer help as regards powering this lot above please for busking?


# Also is it possible to use a car jump start pack as a battery power pack to power this lot with an inverter?

Are you playing a didge on the street? If so, why do you even need all the other stuff?

In San Francisco, except for a couple places at the Wharf, such a set up would be run off the street! Loudness isn't much tolerated around here. Dunno what it's like in other towns, though...

Start small and work your way up once you know your way around. Hitting the bricks with a rig like that right off the bat is asking for trouble in more ways than one.

Yeah, as soon as I saw the 300 watt power amplifier I'm thinking that if someone were to set up shop with one of those on the streets of San Francisco, they'd have a cop busting them within about 10 minutes.

i was going threw same problem

I was looking at process also for years.. due to wanted to work more street for myself, rather then have to have electricity, 12 volt is the way but 12 volt and mobile, I'm not sure...
That is one of the reasons I have formatted and restructured all to pan, 4 years now trying to get dream instrument from Halo but an SPB or Nobuya's pan from Metal art ... I can Mic these up if I have to for street, so why I still wait I was given a Tounge drum from Zen Tambour, and playing with Cirque frends using that a wind and string for future street....
I always loved your instrument...but I am at a loss for 12volt my friend at this time but I will ask some other people I know that might be more help...

Power in watts = current in amps times voltage. So, multiply the various milliamps (mA) you have by the voltage. Add those results together, add 20% for margin (because you don't want your inverter running at 100% capacity, and there you go.

Since you're doing everything at 240 volts, add up all the amps (milliamps times 1000). Since you want watts at 12 volts since that's what your inverter is using, you'd have to multiply your result in amps by 20 to get the amps at 12 volts. Multiply that by 1.2 (120%) and you have a reasonable answer.

A friend has lent me a thing that clips onto my electric meter that shows me how much electric im using ( or drawing ) so once thats attached and powered up later this week I will upload the power results so that some of you bright sparks can let me know how many amps the battery will need etc

I might also buy a 12v 4-6 channel mixer as that way I can power everything in 12v, my only concern then is powering the laptop?

What you're proposing is for the stage, not for the street. When people see street music they want something simple and primitive. That's what it's all about. I've seen the hats of the one guy who runs power amps and mixers at Fisherman's Wharf in SF. He's actually in a good spot after being chased away from other places. He gets a small crowd but not much in tips. They just gawk at his equipment and shake a little to his beats, but that's it. Most of the tourists just walk right by him.

I think you would be best advised to go with the M-10MX, because it's list of specs looks longer. Glad I could help.

There are quite a few issues with the Edirol M-10MX unit according to users and the Behringer has better opperating things to better control the sounds I think?
