So pdf configuration issues.

I need assistance.
I have 47 000 words. The project's finished. It's an open office file [.odt ] file format.
It's numbered and chaptered and finishes as well as I'm able.

Open office has a one button, 'convert to PDF' option. However there is no way I can find [and I've tried] to change the size of the PDF file which is preset at 8.5" x 11"

Here's my problem, my .odt file is configured for 5.5" x 8.5" but when open office turns it into a pdf it creates a 8.5" x 11"

I need it to be switched across to a pdf configured to 5.5" x 8.5"

I don't have word.

I'm stuck.

If I can get this 5.5" x 8.5" odt file made into a 5.5" x 8.5" PDF without having to reformat the text, page numbers and chapter positions then I can publish on Lulu.com

which is what I want to do.

any help would be appreciated.

Just did a quick test. It looks like, if you go to "Print" and choose "Save as PDF", it converts it to 8.5" x 11".

But, if you got to "File" and choose "Export as PDF", it keeps all the formatting.

Your file "Panto-Damascus.pdf" is 8.5" x 11", but you have chosen 5.5" x 8.5" as your book size.
You can fix this problem by choosing a new book size, or changing your PDF file.

perhaps I could email the odt attachment to someone??

Have a go using this little program called bullzip http://www.bullzip.com/
It is open source pdf printer, so it is free.

I use it on my machine and had a go at what your trying to achieve and it seemed to work.

It would be a good idea to also check the dimensions directly in your pdf, there is a chance that it might actually be the web site stuffing up not your pdf.

Yup open Office.
Once you install the program it is a print option in any program you can print from.

thanks, this muddling through is fine with me. I opened the program and will need to focus on it I suppose.
It's little things, I isolate a page number to format it in the middle of the page and half the prior page reformats to the middle also. No hurry. I have the basics, like the next 6 months food, sorted. Plus therapy. heh heh.
