    Best dry wall stilts?

Is there a preferred brand for dry-wall stilts? Are adjustable better?
Anything to look for when buying used?

I prefer the SII magnesium stilts...

Work tall and reach higher with SurPro Drywall Stilts. Elevate safety, comfort and performance with the latest innovations in stilts.

They're light weight and have always held up really well for me. I also feel more secure in these thanks to the double poles on each side of the stilt. However, I don't recommend doing any fancy hopping, skipping, or jumping on them, because they're not designed for that. They are adjustable; which I like because of the different stilt characters I do. Being adjustable also makes it easier to pack away and take to gigs.

I would be very hesitant to buy a used pair of stilts unless I knew the person who was selling them REAL good. Even though you'll save a few bucks buying used, you have no idea how they were maintained and treated before you got them. There might be a damaged or missing screw, spring, pole, footplate... or any number of other things. If you do buy used, make sure you check them out personally before giving up your cash.

I agree with Mike. I use the same pair he mentions and they've held up for me for the last six years! I also wouldn't buy used. You can never be sure of the quality and what the parts have been through.

I would recommend new, it's worth the investment. Make sure to pick up some spare parts from them while paying for shipping anyways. Foot pads, spring assemblies, straps... things that will wear down quickly (and you don't want to be caught without on a gig).

        Marshalltown Skywalkers

I've had my marshalltown skywalkers for three years. They are fantastic. I can adjust them by the inch in less than two minutes. Sometimes I adjust them while I'm standing in them. They are the only drywall stilts that I have owned, but I love them. Check them out.
