    getting into London

Hey, I need a change of scenery real bad, but I haven't been flying the last couple years, these days, what's the best way for a street douche like me to get into london? Fly into France, and take the train, and ship my gear?

Therre's a comic there that offered me a place to stay, and wants me to rock the club scene there, and I think it would do my head some good, I'd like to go in about 3 months.

If you don't have a lot of props, you could send them to your comic mate and then just fly direct into London. Tell them you're a tourist. You might need to prove you have enough money for your stay. A few pnet folks flew into england last august from the states with their props and i don't think they had any trouble. Jim ? Jesus ?

I flew into Manchester with all my props, but it was for a festival. I had a letter stating that I was not being paid and that I would only be there for 4 days. They knew about the festival and stamped my passport as "OK to work in England for 6 months, so long as I was NOT COLLECTING ANY MONEY."

I would not recommend flying in there with the intention of working if you have any props whatsoever or anything that makes it appear you are an entertainer... like, oh, having a blog about how you are an entertainer with your name all over it.

They will dig deep and they can smell juggler on you.

We flew into Ireland with our equipment, told immigration we were working a festival, they hadn't heard of the festival but had no problem with us and didn't ask to see our letter of invitation. We were "visiting friends" in the UK and sent our stuff separately. They wanted a fixed address, but we didn't have to prove we were staying there.

Ireland is generally considered an easier entry point into the UK, from what ive gleaned from 'foreigners'!!
One thing Eric - If youre flying Continentaly, ANYWHERE other than the UK is easier! If you fly to 'Europe' and then take a RyanScare, or CrappyJet to the UK you wont have anywhere near as much shit as flying direct into Heathrow with kit
Jim im VERY interested to hear you actually got a work visa - which told you you werent alowed to earn money!!! Ha - that what the British Govt wants - Slaves again!!
Regardless Eric I hope you getin fine and please let us know where you'll be gigging - woud Love to seeya ya stand-up
            Respect
