This mic looks a lot like a countryman and the quality is comparable as is the price.

The thing that makes this unit a bit better than the countryman in my opinion is that every part of it is interchangeable, the connectors for different units, so if you are using Audio Technica at one gig you will have the connector and sennheiser at another you are set. the cable is interchangable as is the element.

and if you watch the videos it shows that it stands up very well to water, the guy gets buckets of water thrown at him and still talks.

I want to check out the camera style one!

With the Countryman - those cables are switch-out-able, too - we can go from brand to brand on packs and receivers. Still, though, I think most people tend to own the mic, pack and receiver and plug their receivers into the board at the gig, or into their own board, don't they?

the cables yes, but not all parts of the element and connectors. this comes in handy when the connectors break, it may not happen often with you, but I am replacing mics every 6 months or so because the wire breaks at the connector point. so it will be good to have replacement connectors, and wire as well as elements if it does fizzle because of moisture or whatever.

secondly, I have used multiple units at gigs, sometimes the sound company wants to use their equipment, but I am used to my mics, this way you can have a choice to use your own mic.

I just wish the sennheiser headset mic pieces would come apart so I could clean the spit out of them, rather than replacing them every 6 months

Hi, I currently use the seinheiser headset (with the battery powered camera set) The sound quality is great but I find the headset a bit bulky as I do an acrobalance based show. Is there any more snug options out there that I'm not going to break whilst I'm getting flung about? What's the countryman that was mentioned, can I find it in the U.K? I've been previously mute in shows so headsets is a whole new world to me!

                google

the countryman is more slim with minimal bulk, but you'll have to tape it to your face. You might consider getting the countryman lav mic and wiring it into a custom built headset.

                good luck

there is also the countryman e6-s with a smaller boom on the side, no need to tape anymore.

I used to tape the countryman to my face, but about a year ago I managed to, very carefully, shape the wire so that it fits snuggly into my ear; haven't needed the tape since.

they also make a wrap around your head attachment now so you don't have to tape it. I use it, no more tape. http://www.countryman.com/store/prod...id=95&catid=10
However, I imagine an acro act that gets "flung around" might still need to tape it down.

does anyone have experience with the 1mm diameter cables - are they durable enough? or is 2mm the way to go.
