    Stage lighting 101

Hey I am a beginning juggler and I have performed in several locations where they have what seems to be good stage lighting set up. I have been looking at professional performers who use diffrent lighting effects and was wondering if there is a guide on what effects are possible and what to ask the lighing crew for. Thanks, Jeff

get some foot lighting as well as some lights coming from behind you.

Do not be afraid to wear a bit of make up while on stage so you do not get that washed out look, especially if you plan to video tape it.

Get some general stage lighting, but also ask for a few color variations mixed in reds and blues.
Possibly a spot light for focus on some of your material.

    stay away from strobe lighting.

if your clubs are black or dark colors you may want to put some white tape on the handles to be able to see them better.

thanks for the tip but are there no guide lines for what color lights to use with certain color props? (like use complimentary or contrasting colors.)

go to your local theatrical book seller or search online and find information about staging, lighting etc.

experiment with different looks, find what kind of lighting fits your style and have an outside eye, who knows about lighting help you.
