Wireless MICs

Hello everyone. The OMB is going amplified this year! I'm getting a fender passport system today. I've got a question though. I neeeeeed to be wireless. I think a couple lavs would be okay but none of the receivers are battery powered! How can I get around that? I know you can buy a wireless system specially made for the passport but I don't think you can use 2 simultaneously! and I'm thinkin I need one for my voice and one for guitar. Has anyone ever used the fender wireless executive system?

You can always patch a connection from your battery of the passport into the reciever. You should be able to run two.

Details

All you have to do is scrap the warranty of the passport or get a black felt pen to cover the marks where you unscrewed it.
Take the a cable to the reciever cut it, twist or fasten the + - wires to the battery, Locate an exit for the cable. Walla Walla.
For easy placement attach some velcro to the passport stick your reciever stick the reciever to it.
Or you can do what eric said which is a good option as well but a bit more spendy. Never done it with a Passport but have done it with the can and a crate works fine.

Passports need a 12 volt battery to run them. Many receivers for wireless systems also work on 12 volts. You just need a cable with a plug that fits the power input of the receiver and 2 aligator clips or even just bare wire at the other end. Just make sure you double check that the positive and negative is set up right.

I would suggest to you though to try and find a 2 channel battery powered microphone mixer and one wireless instrument sender. That way you can have the mixer mounted on you so you can easily blend your guitar and vocal without having to bend down and do it at the amp, which could result in feed back.

the reciever eric is talking about is hard to find by yourself. find a guitar center and get the pro audio guy to take care of you. they won't have it in stock, they will have to order it. your looking for stuff intended for video cameras. ask for evolution series stuff.

I have a evolution series system. runs off of AA batteries, is small, and works great!

but he is right, it is usually designed for video.

get the battery operated receiver and transmitter set. It runs about $450 - 500
you can get it with your choice of mic. Headset, Lav or omni lav.

It runs on AA batteries. two for each the trans. and Receiver.

If you choose to use a different mic you will have to have it wired for a sennheiser (i.e. Countryman E6)

just call guitar center!

just go to a guitar center and get the guy to help you. I don't think that the kits actually have all the choices Greg says they do. You will probably have to buy pieces indavidually.
if there isn't a guitar center near by you can call one and the guy will look everything up for you and call you back and get it shiped. they get commission, so they will take the time to find the stuff you need.

the next link is basicly what you need for vocals except it has a couple pieces you probably won't use, and I'll willing to bet a headset would be a better choice than a lav for you.

I think you can use the same system for your guitar, but your going to need a special sennheiser cord for pluging into your instrament, which you will need the guy at the store to help you find, because you will never find it online.

and your going to need two seperate systems to run your vocals and instrament.

Yeah. I went in to guitar center the other day. The guy swore he'd never heard of a battery powered wireless system, ha. Anyway, I found the system frisbee was talking about on ebay and I'm gonna use the wireless executive passport system thats compatible with my PA also.

People at Guitar center can be pretty stupid, but if you know exactly what you are looking for they can order it for you.

dang, the guitar center guy I bought my crap from was great.... but some other there guy sold me a roll of black duct tape when I asked for gaff tape...
