I guess this might go here, Does anyone have a clue on the breed of dog that does the tricks? A terrier of some kind?

Which tricks, what the hell are you asking mason?
Spudz McKenzie was a bull terrier if that's the question. -
You probably want a Jack
I had a boarder collie “Yoko” that was amazingly easy to train. Mid size, around 40 pounds and supper intelligent. It was a huge mistake teaching her how to open the refrigerator.
Jack Russell terriers are smaller and very good trick dogs. The dog from “Frasier” was a Jack Russell.Comment

Dog breeds
Any dog ( and many animals) can be trained. Pick a breed you like...

The right breed
Every breed has strengths and weaknesses. Some learn tricks easily, some are less skittish around crowds, some are less nippy. Sure you can train any of them, but some breeds are defiantly easier than others. I’ve never seen a Great Dane or a Basset Hound do a back flip through a hoop of fire. Do some homework and chose the breed that will be suitable to your end goal or you may end up wasting a lot of your time.
Also, make sure this isn’t just a passing fancy. You’re looking at ten to fifteen years of commitment.
I was trying to train a tortoise last fall. I just found out they hibernate all winter. Not much point of digging it back up now, but I am curious to see if there are little tortoise claw marks on the underside of the shoe box lid.Comment

sign language

Instead, train them to understand visual signals. Then you can say ANYTHING and that, they will ignore, and obey only the hand or other signal. You'll be able to change your patter with out it affecting the animal's behaviour.Comment

Thanks
Thanks for the imput, The whole thing came about when a freind had a dog she wanted to adopt cause a recent move to australia and I said if it does tricks, I am game, to naturally exploit all of it`s talents for mine own greedy purposes.
So this beast I find is currently on its way to quarentine in Aus, but cheers for the help, It lead to a really fun research on dog training and such.
Maybe I might get one that is fierce enough to guard all the chickens at my trailer in middle Florida, Or just one to keep me company on the road from little festival to state fairs to chili cookoffs.
I realize here in Berlin in the rain and cold that being a street performer most of the time requires something defenceless to take frustrations out on.
Thanks everyone you guys are true pals.Comment
