    contact managment software

What do people use? I've heard good things about Act and Pagemaker.

Has anyone used the protalent software that's been 'advertised' here?

    Thanks in advance.

    What I use

I use Filemaker Pro, easy to program & easy to add things on the fly.

I was very curious about the proletariat software, but coudn't get the demo to run on my
Mac, despite repeated efforts by the developer. Finally decided it wasn't worth my time investigating it further.

I meant filemaker not pagemaker. Thanks. What about other programs?

        act!

i have used Act! for years

        its well worth looking at.

look for a copy of act! 6. it will do almost everything you can want it to do.

dont even consider act! 2005. symantec went along the microsoft dot.net route for 2005 and almost ruined a great program.

I use MS Entourage on mac it works great for sending emails and dealing with notes while I'm talking to folks. it's simple, but robust.

Install whatever extensions you need, don't install ones you don't, customize it the way you want it to work, done.

Everytime I've tried to those contact management things I've felt like I was using a stealth bomber to get to the corner store and buy cigarretes, way too many bells and whistles. Gmail is pretty awesome too.

There's a freeware called Essential PIM that I've used for a few months now. It does simple scheduling, to-do lists, notes, contacts... and it's supposed to integrate with Outlook fairly well; though I don't use Outlook so I can't vouch for that. It's small, simple, and free; maybe more of a cessna run to the corner store.
