    I use a stiff fabric. It helps makes the uneven places underneath look more smoother on the outside.

        Re tip toe foot placement. You would never be at rest while wearing them, your weight would always be borne in part in the long muscle that runs down beside your shin. Not talking about your calf but the muscle right beside your shin on the outside edge of it. Your calf would be permanently clenched and cramping would be a matter of time I think.Walking en pointe for any continuous time would be hazardous to the tendon behind your knee and a host of muscles and your back but try it for a short time if you had the option. I could be wrong.
