recharging you crate before accu is empty

    Hello fellow performers,
I had a question, hope you are able to answer this one for me.
I have searched in the archieve here and on the net, but couldnt find a good answer.
In the Taxi Crate there is a lead acid accu, does this kind of accus suffer of the "memery effect" That you kill this type of accu when you recharge it, ifnt is empty yet? So is recharging when your accu isnt empty bad for your accu?
I feel more safe to start my show when i know there is still enough energy for that show.
    thanks, Niels

I don't believe there is any memory effect within the lead acid battery used. I use a Crate Limo and ask about this when I purchased it. I assume that the taxi and limi use similar batterys.

      lead acid batteries

last the longest when they are recharged before they become deeply discharged.

      Way before, like hardly used.

Ideally, you might even attach a small solar panel to the battery during use. That is what I do with my solar powered Bubble Tower.

        For Stretch

Could you explain in greater detail? It's all Greek to me. Thanx.

Some batteries if you use them for an hour and charge them the battery will think that the life of the battery is one hour and when you charge it for the rest of its life it will think it should only last an hour. Or something like that,

            lead acid batteries

Lead acid batteries do not have a memory problem. NiCads do.

Lets say you have the best lead acid, marine heavy duty deep cycle battery available.

If you run it till exhaustion repeatedly you might have to replace it in less than a year.

Lets say for sake of example, it takes 10 hours to run it to exhaustion.

If you run it only one hour or less, and then recharge it, and NEVER run it to exhaustion, you might get 5 years out of it.

In real life, you'll probably try to treat it lightly, (say three hours, or 30% of capacity) but occasionally slip up and discharge it completely before you recharge it. In that case, you'll probably get two or three years use out of the battery before you have to replace it.

An automobile battery is a starter battery, not a deep cycle battery. Discharge it just a few times and you will have ruined it.

"So is recharging when your accu isnt empty bad for your accu?"

Actually, that is good for a lead acid battery as long as you don't over charge it. Get one of the new hi tech chargers that have a "float" function. They will charge your battery, but not over charge it no matter how long you leave it plugged into the charger.

            Hope this helps.
