    Interactive busking point

    Hi all,

Im a design student studying in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England. Im currently working on a project to design an interactive busking point for city centres/underground stations/parks etc. It features a main unit with jack-in plugs and built in amplifiers. It works on the premise of a 'swipe-card' system. The cards would be purchased from the busking point with varying amounts of credit pre-charged. Users can then connect their instrument/s to the busking point, swipe their card and receive however many minutes of amplified 'air-play' they have left on the card.

The swipe cards would be high quality (similar to credit card) are can be re-charged (at a small price) at the busking point.

This is till a very rough idea and I would love to get feedback on this, good and bad. I am a keen busker myself and am striving to create a product which would welcome buskers into city centres, encouraging us to be integral part of urban life.

    Thanks for trying.

I think that paying for a spot would change the dynamics of pitch selection. Rich people would be able to pay and would therefore be entitled to a long stay at a pitch. They could even rent the place monthly.

In my opinion, it's back to the drawing board.

There are a bunch more reasons. Steven, you want to expand on that?

      I can...

Here's my two bits. How about that the idea of making buskers -- whose entire premise is typtified by personal freedoms and cash-in-hand earnings that "regular folks" could never relate to -- obligated to a credit card-type cashless machine, ON PITCH no less, seems just a tad bit náve.

A real busker would invent a machine that gives out juice to eveyone for free. Like possibly solar powered?

Thanks for attempting to bring us into the 21st Century and all that Big Bro, but I'm still pretty attached to my gerbil-in-the-wheel power supply.
