    Great Balls of Fire?

I have, very recently, come across flaming juggling balls, and it made me as giddy as the schoolgirls i can't have. I was hoping someone with experience or even just someone who has seen them in action could offer any advice... size...fuel...suplier... anything really. Would my money better be spent on torches, even if I'm 3x better with balls?

I have a little experience with the Mr Babache fire balls.

It's an ball with a layer of aluminium and then wicking over top of that. The layer of wicking is so thin, that it only holds about 30 seconds of fuel.

If you want more time you will have to add at least three more layers of the wicking. You will need to wear protective gloves. Babache makes kevlar gloves, which quite honestly, look stupid. Also, they have to be WET when you use them, otherwise they catch on fire.

I have no experience with the fyre-fly balls (the ones renegade sells), so if you're REALLY stoked about balls you may want to try them as I do not recommend the babache balls.

      good luck,

Get blue aerotech balls if you have the cash. Or go to target and get those blue balls that light up when you squeez them. Actually, just get the target ones, cuz they are much bigger and nicer to juggle. Either way you get a nice blue ball joke (less cliche than "great balls of fire") and you don't have to deal with fire.

P.S.- In some states you can have those giddy school girls, but I won't tell you which ones.

firefly balls are a waste of money unless you are going to juggle in pitch black, which partially defeats the purpose. The flame is small, and seems unimpressive to me. Just get some renegade torches, they are the best in the world! (opinion) Torches are way better. Hi evan

oh, go ahead, look at it

Speaking of pitch-black, that's what you'll need for aerotech balls. I used to perform with a luminous theatre company-- michael marlin you still owe me $2000, you shit -- and we used aerotech products. They are flat out the best on the market. However, getting pitch-black in a theatre is EXTREMELY difficult. We had to put black cloths over door cracks and windows and then there are things which we could black out such as exit signs and track lighting along the aisles.

Of course, using a luminous prop will not have the same effect that fire does. Everyone kinda hopes you're going to burn your face off, and there's also that primordial thing where everyone is just drawn to the flame.

A blue ball joke is cheap and easy-- why not come up with something funny rather than vulgar? Or at the very least, original.

I use solid blue aerotech balls on the street where it's far from pitch black and they work fine. Yes they look alot better in total darkness, but when I just turn them on and set them out with my stuff at night people allways stop and stare at them. And it's not quite the same effect as fire, but they do the trick (they catch people's eye). They are, however, totally useless during the day.
And yes, it's a cheap/easy joke. So is my career. Honestly, I got blue aerotech balls because blue is my favorate color, but the joke does work if it fits your show.... and it's an obvious one that the audience hecklers usually spit out before I can.
