receiver that runs on a battery

    Hi guys,

I just bought a Liberty amp that is EXCELLENT. Although it can run off a batter, my microphone's receiver still needs to be plugged in.

I'm looking for a wireless microphone RECEIVER that can run on a battery. Do they exist?

I'm currently using a Sennheiser ew152, and checked out their website but couldn't find anything...

Lectrosonics (http://www.lectrosonics.com) makes a few great receivers that run on 9v batteries. And I just bought a Shure UHF receiver/transmitter combo that runs on 9v batteries, too. But if you have a Sennheiser transmitter, you probably need a Sennheiser RECEIVER for it to work. How much are you willing to spend? It may be better to just get a new trans/receiver combo and sell your current model.

The Lectro systems are really nice; very burly and reliable. I bought a Shure because it would work with the other two Shure systems I already have. If I was starting out with nothing, I'd go with Lectrosonics.

Just go into an audio shop and ask if Sennheiser makes portable receivers. The Lectrosonics and Shure battery powered receivers are made for use with video cameras. The receivers are just slightly bigger than the transmitter.

      Hi Jim,

The shure & the lectronics both look great... I don't have the disposible income at the moment to buy a whole new system (just bought the Liberty) so for now I'll try to get just the receiver and after next summer I'll just upgrade to the new system.

how much was the UP4 btw? I didn't see a price listed.

      thanks for the info...

Hey, I don't know what the Sennheiser runs on, but the trick I did with my Samson Airline and Taxi combo, is that I used the 12V battery inside my taxi to feed the receiver.
Just check the voltage of the adaptor that came with the Sennheiser and you should be able to attach a battery of the same voltage - if you connect the + and - properly, that is...

or you can buy a rechargable battery/converter system (used for rv's/camping) and any appliance can be powered off this. comes in very handy and only runs about $100 u.s.

Hey Pire. Sennheiser does a wireless reciever which runs off a 9 volt battery. Been using it for about a year now, solid enough. You should be able to modify it to run off the battery in your taxi, haven't got around to trying that mod myself yet though. Just be sure to check the freq range when your ordering, if the range is right even a shure reciever should work.

              Hey Stickman,

              You still out in Ireland?

Thanks for the info... Do you have any model #'s or anything for that Sennheiser receiver?

              Later,

the sennheiser ew100 is a great unit and runs off a 9 volt (to be safe i use one per show)...i wrote a post a while ago in which i was totally pissed off with and ranting about how much sennheiser sucks... but i took it back...turns out the electronic shop (comercial electronics in vancouver-do not buy anything from these goofs) i bought it from were the dicks who were ho-ing and ha-ing about replacing my defective unit. sennheiser made good when i called them and they shipped me a new system free! i am very happy(again) with this system.

                  Hey Pire,

Using the sennheiser ew100 transmitter/reciever. They call them body packs on the website. Several different freq ranges though, so make sure you get the right one for your transmitter. Shure seems to be in the same range, as Dave Mcsavage and I used to jam each other now and again.

                  You still out in Ireland?

Been out of Ireland since Edinburgh last august. Living in Wiesbaden Germany at the moment. Finally had enough of the junkies in Dublin, when they stole my entire sound system. Interesting doing circle shows in a country where I don't speak the language. YET!
