    youtube "HQ" setting?

    Hi all,

We have a new video, and if you watch it in "HQ" setting, it looks great. Unfortunately, watching it in "normal" looks like junk. Everyone seems to get the "HQ" idea, but I'd rather have it look that good regardless. Any thoughts on how I should have exported it or compressed it? I've had this issue a lot with Youtube. Luckily, once it's on our website, it'll be in Flash.

    Here's the link.

compression settings are the enemy of any non-pro editor. We had this same problem with our street performing web-series.... and the only thing we could do to solve the problem was trial and error. Try a few different compression formats when you export it from your editing program and hopefully one of those will look good in normal quality.

normal does look bad though... i watched the video on my cell phone and that version looked better than the normal quality version.

also some of the grainy film effect you threw on the video is overpowering and takes away from what's important in the promo - the awesome show. if you can find a way to fade it out a little bit - or some other way to downplay it I think it would be great.

    great video otherwise.

Eh, we toyed with no effect but it goes with the rest of our promo. It's becoming somewhat of a trademark for us, but I totally hear you.
There will be a no-effect, long video on the promo DVD for theaters. That is, if I can get DVD Studio Pro to start behaving for me. Sheesh, that program can be so frustrating!

Although I haven't figured out the Youtube issue yet, I'm happy to report that it seems to be working great as a Flash vid on the website!

      Check it out here!

BTW, has anyone else noticed a major shift to paperless promo this year?

Awesome design of your website but I'm sorry to have to tell you that at least on my computer the video's playing is very stuttering and not really smooth enough to watch.

I'm not an expert but I have done searches on the subject before. Maybe these articles might help the YouTube problem:

Well here it is folks, High Definition video on YouTube...well sort of...OK, close enough. The YouTube site has gone wide screen (16x9) to more closely fit the abundance of HD frame sized video that is out there now.

I don't know what is causing the slow Flash vid on your site however.

Let us know if you find a good solution.

        cheers,

        Rex

          Hey Cole,

The videos loaded just fine on my computer...although I did not see any difference in size or quality to the two choices of little or large.
