burn to disk as audio disk. re-import as mp3

there is probably a better way, but that's the first thing that pops into mind.

There's a lot of free programs you can use to do the conversion; put this -- +free +"m4a to mp3" -- in your search engine.

I do not think you can convert stuff you bought from itunes.

there is something in it with the way the file is processed that you have to authorize the computer to be able to play it and you can authorize up to 5 computers to play the song you bought.

You can burn it to a cd for anyone to listen to, but if it is an .mp3 or you try to load it into itunes it will ask you to authorize it before it can be played.

Yeah, I think you may be right about that.

Does that mean it'll allow you to burn an mp3 disc, but you can't pull the files off the disc and play them elsewhere?

I found several conversion programs that work (Tunebite being one of the better ones), but they all cost. I'm sure there are places online where you can download a cracked version, if that's our desire.

What amazes me is that you can buy a song from iTunes, which it will then allow you to convert to a ringtone, only to have the honor of buying that ringtone created from a song you already paid them for.

that is not true for all itunes songs, I think that it is only the ones that have the + with it saying it has multiple uses such as ringtones.

I know with the itunes bought songs that you can burn it to a cd and play it on any cd player, it is when it goes on a computer that the issue comes into play.

There may be software to disable this little trick that apple put on the file, but none that I know of.

I just use my ipod and have a cd backup where a venue may want to use it.

Oh there is a way! I have a program. But it was sort of taken in a petty theft sort of way...

I'm Not sure if this will work for songs brought i Itunes beacuse i so far only have ones i have ripped of CD's But it is worth a try.

There is a free Portable App around called floola You can run this application of the hard drive in your iPod and use it to take songs from your iPod and put them on any computer even if that computer does not have iTunes.

It can be a little tricky to set up and the FAQ on their web site is not the best so if you have any troubles let me know and i'll try and help.

Oh Also if the burning CD then ripping is working for you, it might be worthwhile burning to cd image then ripping from that. Then you won't go though a million CD's
