    More than one video

    Hi Gang,

I'm in the process of putting together my new promo video and wanted to know your thoughts on putting together more than one video.

Right now I'm thinking of a:

    4 minute Highlights video
    6 minute Stage/Character show
    5 minute Street Show

I guess when I send it to people they can view my Highlights video and if they see something they like they can go to one of my longer cuts specific to that show.

Is this a practical idea or am I just wasting time in front of my mac pounding away at Final Cut?

Should I put all three videos on my DVD?

    Love to hear the input

    Thanks!

depending on how much work you want to get, I'd say it's a good idea. Look through the forums for tips on how to do it right.

pete sweet has the best street vid I've seen.

      thanks

      Thanks Scot,

Now here's another question, when I put together my DVD. Should I put all my videos on one DVD and the client can pick and choose or keep them seperate?

      Thanks again!

        Hi Rob Lok,

What I would reccomend is to have your 5 minute promos for each character/show you are putting together. (most important/bookable on top)
Also put a full length version of your show on your promo. Have a different link for each part.

Cruiseships and more and more festivals/fairs/themeparks are looking to see the whole show.
They realize how nice you can make a 5 minute montage and often would prefer to see a raw unedited show where they can see and hear the whole experience.

As a bonus feature I would put your spot with the watermelon...still one of the funniest things I have seen.

it's gonna be easier making one big dvd for everyone. and if it's meaty enough, you can sell it after your shows too.

Well, take a look at my first edit

            Thanks Boys!

Okay, here's the first cut of my 4 minute teaser. I guess this is the one I would send to clients and agents and if they see something they like, they'll ask for more.

Yup, you tube sucks. I'll put a better quality on my site soon.

I'm not too sure about the quick "Appeared in these countries" text at the end.

            Music- too much, too used?

Do you get a sense of a show or is this one of those videos that show " the best of.." kinda thing?

well, i got the lube so give it to me, baby!!

            thanks

I think overall it looks really good.
                Here are a few critiques:

                - Put the David Letterman clip closer to the front. If people do not make it to the end of your video they will never see that part.

                - Take out the school show or kids party clip, it does not fit the rest of the video.

                - take out the last bit of corporate, festivals theatres cabaret etc... or maybe place it differently thru the video or over a still pic...it seems also not necessary.

I usually do not like music that has lyrics used for a promo video, but this song really works for your video, nice choice.

hope all is well with you and see you soon.

I really liked it. Good flow & movement. The clips themselves didn't get stale & had lots of content.
I would shorten it. 4:30 is a bit long but 3 min would be good.

Why are all your reccommendation quotes at 2 min into the video? Put them at the beginning, and then prove to the viewer WHY those people were right in saying the things they did.

I would also put more of the solid action at the beginning after the first grandpa clips - hat juggling bits, handstand on chairs, or cups - and then start spicing it up with more comic stuff. That way we see you have quantitative skills at the beginning.
By starting leading the video with the stilts at the outdoor party and the street show... we don't get the right idea.
Consider taking out some of the street bits, the action is confusing - like when someone throws the basketball on your head. There's no physical joke & no audio, so it donesn't make a lot of sense.

The Gran'pa show is the only show you label. Either do all or none.
                  Yes, Letterman clip earlier.
I like the list of countries at the end.
& I think the last few words, "Festivals, Corporate, Cruise,..." are too slow - they should come in as fast as the words at the beginning.
I don't like "Booking Now" as the last thing you see. I know that's the message you want to leave them with - but to me, it makes you seem like you're calendar is empty.

Be aware these are edits before the early critiques ie. the quotes, the "circus, theater, events, booking now" stuff at the end
