Imbedded Blogs

I'm plannng to completely re-do my website this winter to start taking advantage of all these new capabilities that the internet has to offer and I would like to embed a blog into the site like these guys have done so well:

I'll admit my total ignorance here that I don't know the first thing about programming in this area. Then again, I didn't even know what html was three years ago.

Does anyone know of any resources that I can go to learn how to embed a blog into the site? Is there software I have to buy? etc.
