    Website/Flash help

I'm working on a new website, trying to put in Flash (using SWiSHMax, somewhat blindly), and it seems to be taking way too long to load.

It's not that complex, and I optimized all the images in Fireworks, so I'm not sure what's slowing things down.

Anyone who knows about this stuff and would care to help out a desperate man please go here and click on "Completely Mental".

    Thanks!

I may have fixed it, but I can't really tell from my computer.

      off topic

does punk have a different meaning in th US?
kiddy porn is just not something that should be associated with entertainers, it's not funny, well maybe in reference to mj.

First; I have not seen anything done with swish that looked good.

Second; take out any images that can be replaced with type or shapes. Image files slow things down and flash isn't really made to display images well. It's a vector (line drawing) plugin.

I second that, swish is a tool for the flash-less to make text-effects, and even for that it's useless. Use flash.

It seems to load plenty quick over here, but I have a cable modem. You can take down the jpg quality from within flash in the publish settings. Another speed factor is using a comcast homepage, comcast's servers slow WAY down at certain parts of the day, !@#? em, bite the bullet and pay for hosting fer chrissakes. It's cheap.

Overall, this whole thing looks REAL bad right now. More on that later.

You can get flash to simulate downloading speeds by doing this....

            1) Ctrl + enter (gets you a preview of your project)

            2) Select ctrl + b to bring up the "Bandwidth profiler"

            3) Goto the "debug" drop down menu to select modem speed to be simulated

            4) Then hit ctrl + enter a second time.

Thanks for the feedback/help so far.

The text (kiddie porn, etc) is just temporary for placement--forgot to mention that.

Good to know that SWiSH generally looks bad; I just haven't had the time to invest in learning Flash, yet.

Good to know that stuff about Flash, Scot.

The comcast homepage is temporary, too. I get it with my cable modem, so it's good for testing things out.

              Thanks for the tips, Kim.

Eric, this was something I just put together as an exercise, of sorts, and I know it ain't pretty. I would appreciate your thoughts on what, if any of it is worth keeping and why, and what's not and why. Go ahead, cut me Mick.

              Thanks!

The photos are too far away, the throbbing penis chainsaw doesn't help your cause

pick out 3 fonts max for your whole site.

THe site's too gimicky. Make it really simple and get good pictures taken.
