I had my headshots reproduced by Grand Prints

They do lithographs, but the quality was good, the price low, and the people very pleasant and went out of their way to please.

I plan to get some postcards soon and will probably go thru them.

Rocket postcard which is a subsidiary of them does the shorter run and has a standard price guide.

thanks greg... i don't know that i want 10, 000 - but, maybe. i wonder if they could split an order... *wheels spin in head*
      i'll check them out.

i guess... that no one will notice the quality... the sfic uses them, too... i don't know. something about paying a bunch of $ for a crappy product rubs me the wrong way... they really screwed up a batch of postcards for us not too long ago... and, i'd rather pay that same amount to someone who will get it how i want it the first time...

but, in all reality i'll more than likely use them.

              Postcards

              I use 4over4.com .

They are color on both sides postcards, excellent quality, and cost about $350 for 5000 postcards (that includes the shipping!) You have to supply all the art.

They are very fast-- generally a 2 day turnaround.
I've visited their plant in NYC, and I'm a believer.

                More shameless self-promotion

I should be receiving my brand-new deluxe-size color publicity postcards from Modern Postcard this week! I can't wait. I'm going to send one to everybody I know and plenty of people I don't know. And if you e-mail your name & mailing address to me, I'll send one to you.

                    It's in the mail...

Thanks to firegirl & several others who requested my new postcard. You should receive it this week. Keep it somewhere safe. It's going to be a hot item on ebay when I'm famous & dead.

                      uploading info for postcards...

So I went to a postcard making site, uploaded my photo and then discovered that they can't accept a text file for the back ( word perfect). So, short of buying a nice graphics program, is there a way around this? Or a company that can use a text file...?

                      Dave

                        re: text file for back

Dave-- just turn it into either a graphic file or a PDF file.

It should be 300 dpi regardless.

I'm not sure if I can read wordperfect (I'm on a MAC) but if you get really stuck, send it to me and I'll see what I can do.

                          great prices in Ohio

HotCards.com "THE LOWEST COST FULL COLOR PRINTER IN THE NATION"

UPS to Denver was slighly higher than UPS from California to Denver, but the prices for 10,000 cards more than made up for it.

AND they print a 4.25 x 6 inch size card.

                          $348.00 !!!!

This is my first order with them, keeping my fingers crossed.

My next printing project won't be for a while, but Im going to farm out my brochure printing. Gettting tired of all the time and money we spend feeding the HP color printer.

that is a good price for 10,000 cards

for shorter runs of 500-1000 cards, try Quantum Copy.

they offer full color both sides for about 85$ for 500

any order over 35$ gets free 2 day shipping anywhere in the Continental U.S.

I have been using them for my 11x17 brochures for the past two years and think that they do a pretty good job.

Definately make sure that you have your files sizes and specs right before uploading as they are all automated I believe and I had a problem once on the sizing...
if it is not sized right to the order you placed, they will scale it and it will come out looking like crap.

The plus for you Dave is that they take word files and multiple other formats.

                              file sizes . . .

good point on the files sizes. HotCards automated upload system has a warning system built in. It will tell you if the file is sized incorrectly. It has to match the paper size nearly exactly.
