    BEST PLACE/PRICE FOR POSTCARDS

am about to get some postcards made for two shows. i want the standard color front & b/w print on the back.

don't like the place i've had them done in the past - as they are wicked expensive... and, never get them correct the first time. (kinkos online)

suggestions for cheap places that do good work?
or, decent priced places that do good work even...

pref. in the bay area - but, don't mind shipping out work for a deal.

I've used them. Next time I won't get the cards coated, they were so slick, I had to use a sharpie to write on them. Otherwise good.

      here is their March special

10,000 5x7 full color both sides, 12pt UV
      $540

I've gotten smaller cards, full color both sides for about half that.

      I found them on Ebay.

          psprint.com

I just got 1000 postcards from psprint.com for about $140 including shipping. I was actually amazed at how fast they did the job. I ordered them on a Friday and had confirmation that they had shipped on the following Tuesday. (And I didn't pay extra for the 3 day service. I expected the 10 day service.)

The thing is, I'm not completely happy with the print quality. I sent them a high-res file exactly to their specs but the cards look pretty grainy when you really inspect them. At arm's length (and in the 3 seconds anyone really looks at a post card) they're fine, but I've had much better quality from Modern Postcard. I have a feeling psprint uses a different printing technique than MP.

Years ago Modern Postcard had a deal... $99 for 500 cards. Now they're more expensive and I decided to go with the best deal I could find. Psprint was it... but you get what yo pay for.

For a short run of hand-outs or general mailers, I think you'll be fine with psprint.

the sf improv co-op just did a run of about the same # of postcards & it cost over $200. i don't think they did the 3day service, either... and, also they had a problem with the print quality.

i guess i could check out psprint - but, i'm pretty cash low at the moment and don't want to have to re-order the postcards because they look like poo.

i want to run about 500 for each show & then do a larger run for each when it gets closer to opening... (july for the first show & august for the second show... )

            thanks for the advice.

            anyone else?

full color, both sides, great quality, and quick, about 135 for 1000, or 115 for 500.

Who does really good black and white 8x10s, short run?

i've used them for headshots since i was 11yrs old. they charge $80/100 shots... good quality work... for an extra $20 you can get next day service.

good quality, good price & it's a mom/pop place, too.

                peace,

a performer sent me his press kit done by psprint and mentioned how inexpensive the job was. The quality was TERRIBLE. Flimsy paper, washed out colors, bleeding colors, etc. I wasn't impressed.

I just got some ps print stuff. It is really inconsistent. I always use them. It's fast and painless to deal with, and as Jim said, no one will notice the quality.

If you have to have good print stuff, my designer friends say http://www.4by6.com

                          post card printing in S.F>

Here are two choices for good quality printing in the bay area.

Nomad Printing...They are primarily for theatre card printing, which may be what you are looking for. 10,000 for somewhere around 500$ (this may have been a special deal for the project I did, they price jobs based on each project)

Rocket postcard which is a subsidiary of them does the shorter run and has a standard price guide.

I used PsPrint for a long time and will not use them for more than business cards anymore as the print job quality has gone way down since they sold the company about a year ago.
I even had business cards printed that had to be done twice and they still were not right.

                            thanks -and a question

thanks all -- just so happens I need new postcards this week.

Does anyone sell their post cards after shows? It seems like a good item; cheap but sharp looking. And its instant promo.

                            Dave

                              selling

I do not sell them after a show, I give them out as handouts. When I am doing street shows I really push that everyone who puts something in the hat gets a free photo of the show.r promotion.

I have the finale trick as the image on the card and promote show information and website on the back.
I leave a bit more space on the bottom of the card to also sign autographs for those who want it.
