    What do agents want?

I have a question about what prospective agents and presenters want to see.
I have had multiple promo packets over the past years and feel that what I have now is working well for me, can anyone else relay some information about what you have learned?

The two that have worked for me.

1.) A glossy folder with promotional materials inside: including, photos, small 8.5x11 brochure either 1. fold version or 3 fold version.
printed forms of same material for easy copys by agents, news clippings and then a DVD or VHS or PAL, whichever is prefered.
    (although it is bulky)

2.) A brochure either large or small format 1 fold, and video, dvd...then all promotional easy print offs are available thru website to print as needed.

What have you found that works.
You do not need to talk about design ideas that are creatively yours, that help sell you individually, just what content and system are you using?

    AGENT SUGGESTIONS

i created a packet for a magician several years ago and asked an agent friend of mine in la to review it. the advice she gave me was this:

    less is more.

she stated she prefered a really good 2min vhs, 1 photo/cv/resume and 1 press clipping in an envelope w/a business card.

she said that this is what she had her assistant pull out of submissions which she recieved... that the rest of the stuff was thrown into the trash.

she also stated that once you send a packet to her office - you shouldn't send another. that if you're doing a performance in town that she can see or, doing a new show format (if you're local) that you could send a postcard inviting a rep from her office to come see it. but, that's it.

her office reps variety for film work in la. she also reps other spec. acts for film work... you know when blah, blah production is doing a carnival scene & the need a stiltwalker - they call maryanne. her point was that she keeps everyone on file & when jobs come in that is when she calls people in to see them. so - even if you don't hear from her office past the "thank you for your submission" letter that she will be trying to place you... as money for you = money for her.

but, that's this particular agent in la. i know that tour agents are much different. i always self represented - so i don't have much experiance with that.

OH. but, i do know that this sf agent is looking for variety submissions... i just sent them my headshot/film resume along with a still of me doing fire-eating. (as it lists my variety skills under the "special skills" section of my resume...)

i know people who've gotten a lot of work through these guys.
    nothing hurts, eh?

btw - i like the new logo. sharp. but, it looks like a foamie.
