    guest book

people are spamming my guest book. It's not hard to delete unwanted posts, but it's very anoying. whenever an IP address is logged I can ban it, but it's rare. any other tips?

what do you mean by "spamming?" are they automatically posting ads, or are you having problems with people writing hate mail, or what?

it's just like spam, but it's on my guest book.

sig 102 and 103 were both from the same IP. they both posted the same web link and email (which I deleted). I've had a few more like them which I deleted all together. I think 104 and 105 are bogus as well.

I could tell you how to fix it, but you wouldn't be able to. Your main problem is that your guestbook is a common script. People can write code to search for this and fill out the form.

You can change the link you your guest book from "guest book" (on all the menus on your site) to something unusual like "public messages."

That might help a little bit. If not, tell your php friend. he should be able to whip something up for you.

One of the other things spammers do is called "guestbook mining" they send robots into your CGI-bin & get people's email / IP addresses. This is one of the primary techniques of those guys from nigeria that want to share $24,000,000 with you if you sent them $18,000.
