    Optimum website screen resolution

What is the standard for website display resolution?

I know someone touched on this subject about a year ago, but I'm curious if things have changed since then.

My guess would be that it's still 800 x 600, as Yahoo, Google, MSN.com and many other high-traffic sites are designed for that resolution. However, when I look at the stats of those people who've visted my site (www.swamiyo.com--cheap plug), it seems most have their browsers set to 1024 x 768.

How about you folks? What resolution are your browsers set to?

I usually view things at 1024x768 but I designed my site to be compatible with 800x600 just to be safe. I always seem to see other PC's in cheap internet cafe's that are set to the lower resolution and I also think that most of the really popular old iMacs are probably set for 800x600.
