    Phone Book

    Hello all!
    I was recently informed by my ad salesman that I would no longer be able to have my website listed in the phone book under entertainers. Something to do with the "adult" entertainers not being allowed to list thiers, so family entertainers also cannot list them now. I am now stuck with the choice of moving to the catagory of party planners, dropping the website, or just dropping the ad altogether. I wondered if any one else has encountered this problem or had any thoughts other then what facists they are for further marginalizing entertainers. Thanks!

    James;
    I would tell them that your business name is jrjuggler.com

    If they tell you you can't be listed, then don't list.

      Given that the website http://www.jrjuggler.com/ gave me a page not found error, I would suggest listing yourself as anything else could only be an improvement.

        Thanks Scot, I may try that, though I don't think it will do me any good. Steven, I an curious to know what caused your problem as I clicked on the link in your post and went right to my website. I have found out since my first post that "Entertainers, business and family" has been placed on a list of "sensitive" catagories by Qwestdex that websites are not allowed to be listed under because they may lead to adult content along with the headings of: "Adult bookstores," "Entertainers, Adult," and "Abortion Service Providers." Who knew jugglers, clowns and magicians were so dangerous? (and singing cowbows, I am in Phoenix) I am currently paying for a small box ad. This is not listed under my website, but does display it prominently. While I don't get a large amount of business from this (couple gigs a month) it does keep my name out there and has gained me some valuable contacts. So, the more I go over this, the more worked up I get. I am probably going to call the others in my catagory and see if we can get anywhere if we protest this rule. Is this a foolish waste of my time? Perhaps. Can I talk them into giving me a second listing under a different heading? Maybe not - I feel I have to do something here as this is just not right.

          Some people here are registering as (their name)dotcom. It works here so maybe you can try it too.
