Any quality low-cost (i.e. free) website hosting?

A chip-head I am not, and I don't need anything too fancy. I just want to post a resume and a few photos of my work. Is there anyone offering quality low-cost/no cost webspace without too much advertising?

Any links can be sent to :

P.S. Please go easy on the tech-talk.

      web hosting

one thing you've got to consider is that there is NO free web hosting...you pay in one way or another. Nothing sucks more than going to a url and gettig bombarded with pop-up adds, not to mention it looks totally unprofessional. Why pay good money to have a site designed (or spend all that time doing it yourself) only to have your appearence undermined by adds for spy-cams and naked celebreties. You get what you pay for.

          Doteasy:
          Not free.
You have to register your domain name through them for a slightly higher cost than elsewhere and if you use the email account that comes with the hosted space whenever you send an email they tac an ad(only a type ad mindyou) to the bottom of your msg. you only get 20 mb of space anything more and you start paying.
(I've been on doteasy for a few years now)

Anyone have any experience using these companies? I've checked out their websites and they both look good.

              I use 1dollar hosting...they are alright.
when my year is up I might switch to a different company.
there have been times that my site has gone down...they are pretty quick on it if you notice your site is down...if you are not monitoring your site though who knows how long it would be down.

they are a subsidiary of webcountry.net

can't beat the price...no ads...12 dollars a year after your start up fees...which was like a one time 50$ and then every year is 12 dollars...My main concern with them most of the time is the email system...they have a screwed up system...you dont get email space but what they call e-mail alias' you can write email through their weird system...but hooking it up to outlook and stuff is tricky.

I agree with the you get what you pay for and that is why I will probably switch to a better more reliable in the future.

here is my site hosted through them

              www.frisbeeshow.com

hope this helps you make a decision.
