    imovie

Hey Jim or any other Mac heads out there:
I just picked up a new ibook and I'm playing around with imovie and I have a problem capturing clips. It seems that after I capture a clip there is audio playing durineg the capture but once the clip is on the shelf or when I drag it down to the timeline there is no audio. What's up? I tried the help center but there was no answer.

Make sure the check box next to the audio timeline is checked. If it's not checked, the sound is muted.

    Hope that helps.

The box is checked. It's not muted. I don't get it.
      Thanks though

        Hey Jeff,

My ibook sometimes does the same thing. The sound is not playing but is embedded in the image. If you import it back to your camera it will be there. Just play with it a little more.

There has to be a setting somewhere that isn't checked or something. iMovie is one of the simplest programs in the world to use. So simple that sometimes basic things are overlooked.

          Check out http://www.info.apple.com/usen/iMovie/

and look in the forums for your problem. There are probably 100 people witht the same issue.

thanks for the link: like all great forum sites I found my answer. here it is in case anyone here experiences the same problem:
having "play through camera" checked will mute speakers on your computer if the camera is still plugged in. If you unplug the camera it also works, which might explain your intermittent sound.

            Try this eli

Aha! That's right. Now I remember having the exact same problem once. Your solution reminded me of it. And I think that's how I solved the problem, too... those forums are great. Also the http://www.macworld.com forums are pretty good, too, for troubleshooting. And they use the same technology as performers.net forums so you'll immediately know how to get around.

              Have fun with iMovie!
