They sell balls of all weights and sizes. If by #6 you mean a six pounder, they usually have them, and they usually cost around $60. Although if it's a satanist bowling alley, a 6 pound ball will cost $66 and 6 cents.
I got mine from www.bowling.com it was around $40. I found thrift stores have lots of bowling balls but none that weigh 6 pounds most pro shops in bowling alleys dont carry a six pounder and would have to order it any way. So save yourself some time and order one off the internet. By the way if your planning on dropping the ball on the ground to prove its real make sure it isnt a cement floor or carpet covering a cement floor they will break. good luck.
By the way, I've never seen the neccessity of "proving" it is real... most people believe a bowling ball is a bowling ball. If they are that skeptical of you, then chances are you are doing something wrong and I'll lay odds that it is not the props fault.
I recall Hilby juggling three bowling balls, one of them being fake/hollow/probably plastic. He finished off the bowling ball juggling by having the fake one smack him in the head. ...He juggled them very believably, with great weight. It looked real (but I think, upon closer inspection, I remember the holes not being deep like the real bowling balls. But that's something no one would see, if the ball is being juggled or moved around. I only saw it because it rolled towards me, and that was after he already donked himself on the head. ...so by that time everyone knew it was fake.)
All that said, I don't know where he got it from. But I'm sure he'd know. ...If that's what you're looking for.

I agree there is no need to prove a prop is real. But during my show I like to drop my bowling ball it makes a loud bang and gets a response from the audience. I used to drop it on my prop case until I cracked the case (dont do that either). I think what I have proved by droping my bowling ball is that Im an idiot. It definitely wasn't the props fault it was all me.
